Biomedical query encoding
Your question is encoded by a biomedical-specific encoder trained on millions of scientific abstracts — not a generic language model.

Section-aware retrieval
42,831 chunks — split by paper section: methods, results, limitations, discussion — are searched by semantic similarity. Top 50 candidates returned.

Precision reranking
A cross-encoder scores each question-chunk pair jointly. More precise than embedding similarity alone. Top 5 selected for generation.

Grounded generation
The generation model synthesises only from retrieved passages. It cannot cite papers not in the retrieved context. Fabrication is architecturally prevented.

Evidence calibration
Output distinguishes in vitro, animal, and human evidence. Flags conflicting findings between papers. Reports gaps explicitly.
